We’ve all heard it before: People today are waiting longer to get married and have children. In fact, marital trends for both sexes have risen an average of seven years. In 1960, for example, the average man getting hitched was 22, and in 2012 he is 29. In 1960 the average age of brides was 20, and in 2012 that number has risen to 27. Although the age we say “I do,” has gone up, brides are still, on average, two years younger than their grooms.
